Travel plans across Pakistan faced major disruptions on Eid-ul-Fitr as more than 50 flights were cancelled and 20 others experienced delays due to low passenger loads and operational adjustments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
As per the report, Karachi saw 12 international flights to destinations including Bahrain, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai, and Najaf cancelled.
Lahore faced cancellations of eight flights bound for Abu Dhabi, Doha, Fujairah, and Sharjah. Islamabad had 20 flights to Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Fujairah, Al Ain, and Bahrain cancelled.
Domestic routes were also affected, with seven flights from Islamabad to Gilgit, Skardu, and Karachi cancelled, alongside one cancelled flight from Lahore to Karachi.
In addition, 20 flights from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to destinations such as Jeddah, Riyadh, Sharjah, Istanbul, and Madinah experienced delays, affecting passengers returning from or travelling during the festive period.
Airlines have cited a combination of low load factors and the need to adjust schedules during Eid as reasons for the disruptions. Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines before travelling to avoid inconvenience.
