President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the nation, urging citizens to carry forward the spirit of patience, piety and sacrifice learned during Ramazan.
In his message marking Eid-ul-Fitr (1st Shawwal 1447) on Saturday, the president described the festival as a reward for the fasts, patience and devotion observed during the holy month. He said Eid brings a message of beginning a renewed spiritual life grounded in Allah’s mercy, forgiveness and a deep sense of servitude.
Quoting from the Holy Quran, the president reminded believers that fasting was prescribed to attain righteousness, emphasising that the core message of Eid lies in piety, self-accountability and moral purity. He also cited a saying of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), noting that those who fast with faith and sincerity are granted forgiveness for their sins.
The president said the occasion serves as a reminder that true success lies in applying the teachings of Ramazan in daily life. He stressed that values such as patience, tolerance, compassion, justice and brotherhood form the foundation of both an ideal individual and a strong, united nation.
Highlighting the social dimension of the festival, he said Eid-ul-Fitr promotes mutual love, harmony and a sense of responsibility towards the less fortunate, including orphans and underprivileged segments of society.
The president also called on the nation to renew its commitment to unity, constitutional supremacy and the rule of law, asserting that Pakistan’s development, stability and prosperity are collective responsibilities.
He concluded with prayers for peace and stability in Pakistan and the wider Muslim world, expressing hope that unity within the Muslim ummah would remain intact amid regional challenges.
