All bogies of the Lahore-bound Shalimar Express derailed when the train struck a trolley loaded with bricks near Chak Jhumra on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sahianwala Police Station, in the locality of Choti Ghartal 142RB.
The trolley was stopped at the railway crossing when the Shalimar Express hit it badly.
Superintendent of Railway Tariq Latif said that the railway track will be restored till night. He said that relevant railway officials were informed soon after the trolley was struck at the track to avoid any other incident.
Tariq Latif said that 10 teams were busy in repairing the track. He expressed hope that the track will be operational till night.
The injured persons were shifted to hospital while the driver of trolley escaped from the scene.
Trains schedule badly affected
Schedule of all incoming and outgoing trains was badly affected due to damage of track.
Shalimar Express departed for Karachi from Lahore via Sahiwal while Ghauri Express from and to Faisalabad was cancelled.
Karakorum Express departed for Karachi via Sahiwal and Mari Indus Express which was being operated between Mianwali to Lahore also cancelled.
