Officials in Islamabad are concerned about the spread of poliovirus in Pakistan which has increased to an alarming level in 2025 as two more cases were detected, reported 24NewsHD TV on Wednesday.

Two new polio cases were reported from Lakki Marwat and Bannu. So far, according to federal data, the total number of polio cases in Pakistan in 2025 has reached 10.

A 26-month-old girl in Lakki Marwat, belonging to UC Bukhmal Ahmadzai, showed symptoms of polio on April 22.

Meanwhile, a 40-month-old boy in Bannu, from UC Sen Tanga, was confirmed to have polio on May 1, officials

In 2025, five polio cases were reported from KP, four from Sindh, and one from Punjab, showing a frightening uptick in the spread of the virus.
