A high-level Pakistani technical delegation arrived in Kabul on Tuesday to discuss improvements in the visa system for Afghan citizens, diplomatic sources confirmed.

The delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Interior and other relevant departments is primarily stationed at the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, where it is reviewing ongoing reforms related to visa issuance, the biometric system, and measures to curb the role of illegal agents, sources said.

According to diplomatic officials, no official meetings with Afghan Taliban representatives have been scheduled; however, informal interactions cannot be ruled out.

Sources clarified that the visit had been planned prior to the recent border tensions and clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, emphasizing that it is not linked to any ceasefire talks or negotiations.

“The visit reflects a positive development in bilateral engagement,” one source said, noting that the Afghan Taliban’s decision not to obstruct the delegation’s travel indicates a willingness to maintain functional diplomatic and technical cooperation despite recent strains.

The delegation’s work will continue over the next few days, focusing mainly on streamlining visa procedures and enhancing efficiency at the Pakistani missions in Afghanistan.
