The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to complete the Pakistan Super League (PSL) brand valuation process within this week, paving the way for the addition of two new franchises, sources revealed.
According to insiders, the valuation is being carried out by a private company, taking into account factors such as profitability, market share, and return on investment. The competitive market trends and the PSL’s unique brand identity are also being evaluated as part of the process.
Sources further disclosed that once the valuation is finalized, open bidding will be held for the inclusion of new teams. The highest bidders will have the right to choose any two names from a shortlist, and may also propose cities from any of the four provinces.
Among the potential new franchise locations being discussed are Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gwadar, and Hyderabad, the sources added.
Meanwhile, two to three major business groups have reportedly expressed strong interest in acquiring new PSL teams.
The sources also mentioned that the eleventh edition of the PSL is likely to take place in April–May next year.
