A court in Islamabad Wednesday adjourned the alleged un-Islamic nikah case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi till September 24, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi and approver Naeem Panjotha appeared in the court of Civil Judge Qudratullah.

Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi pleaded with the court to adjourn the hearing without any proceeding, stating that he needed time to prepare his arguments on the petition regarding jurisdiction.

Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi said that the prosecution would give arguments after the PTI lawyers gave their arguments on the plea regarding jurisdiction.

Approver Naeem Panjotha filed a plea in the court for exempting Bushra Bibi from appearance. “The court has approved the request for permanent exemption of Bushra Bibi from appearance,” he told the court.

“Bushra Bibi’s presence will be necessary if there is a case of indictment,” Judge Qudratullah remarked.

“Sher Afazal Marwat will present arguments on the plea regarding jurisdiction,” Naeem Panjotha Advocate said.

“The arguments of both parties will be heard simultaneously on the same date. You should submit the decisions of various courts before your arguments,” Judge Qudratullah said to the approver.

“We request that an early date should be given for the next hearing,” Naeem Panjotha pleaded with the court.

“We adjourn the hearing till Monday. The parties will give arguments together,” the court said and directed lawyer Sher Afazl Marwat and prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi to give arguments at the next hearing.

The court then adjourned the hearing of the case till September 25.
