Minister displeased over delay in Murree Expressway renovation work

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan Sunday visited the Islamabad-Murree Expressway ‎and expressed displeasure over the delay in renovation work, reported 24NewsHD TV.‎

During the inspections, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan instructed that trees should be planted along the ‎expressway and green belts should be completed soon. ‎

He said that a beautiful landscape should be created and protective fencing should be installed. He added ‎that the Prime Minister will be invited after the completion of the renovation.‎

The Federal Minister for Communications directed that the renovation work should be of standard quality and ‎long-lasting. ‎

He further directed the removal of unauthorised U-turns and additional routes on the Islamabad-Murree ‎Expressway. ‎

He also instructed NHA officers to inspect rest areas and build more washrooms. He said that rest areas should be ‎outsourced on the lines of motorways.‎

He further said that standard canteens in rest areas should also be made functional soon. Abdul Aleem Khan ‎directed the National Highway Authority to ensure the immediate completion of the remaining work. During the ‎inspection, he said that safe and comfortable travel for tourists visiting Murree was being ensured.‎

NHA officials briefed that new lights and reflectors have been installed, and a new toll plaza with an e-tag facility is ‎now functional on the expressway.‎

Some tourists visiting various places in Murree also talked to Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and expressed ‎gratitude to him for beautifying the expressway.‎
