A Crime Control Department (CCD) team remained unhurt when three armed accused opened fire on them in the Kot Sarang area of Talagang, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The CCD team responded effectively and foiled the attack.
During the chase of one proclaimed offender, who was identified as Ghulam Shabbir, son of Sher Khan, died after receiving a serious gunshot.
Police said that the dead accused was a police record holder and was involved in different criminal cases, which include murder, snatching, and possession of illegal weapons.
Police also recovered an illegal Kalashnikov from his possession. Later, the CCD team cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation to apprehend the remaining accomplices of the accused.
