Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Monday after conclusion of the party’s two-day central general council meeting in Peshawar, Fazlur Rehman said the meeting discussed the country’s internal situation as well as regional developments.
The meeting also reviewed the security situation and the party’s future political strategy.
He claimed that the government’s writ was absent in parts of KP and Balochistan, while alleging that bandits were also operating in Sindh.
Referring to Balochistan, the JUI-F chief alleged that banks were being robbed and money was being distributed along roads.
Fazlur Rehman further alleged that armed men were stopping vehicles in the province and firing at their tyres, raising questions about the security of political representatives and public officials.
JI chief said the security situation had become so difficult that members from Balochistan told the meeting they could not safely travel to Karachi by road.
He said JUI-F had never previously been forced to shift a meeting from one part of the country to another because of unsafe routes.
He said those exercising power in the country should be subject to the Constitution, law and ethical standards, regardless of their position.
