Pakistani actor and comedian Iftikhar Thakur has paid an emotional tribute to Asif Iqbal and reminded audience his selfless nature and his efforts to help others despite facing serious health problems.
Speaking in an interview, Iftikhar Thakur exhibited the temporary nature of life, saying that wealth, children and worldly possessions ultimately remain behind.
He again and again reminded fans that a person’s real success lies in living according to the teachings of Allah and the Holy Prophet.
Remembering Asif Iqbal, Iftikhar described him as a loyal and compassionate person who always stood by others in difficult times and tried to ease their pain while putting aside his own troubles.
He said Asif continued helping people despite suffering two heart attacks. Iftikhar prayed that Allah grant him a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous.
Iftikhar Thakur said with confidence that when Asif Iqbal appears before Allah and the Holy Prophet, he will have a reason to smile because of the good he did for others.
Asif Iqbal, also known as Asif Iqbal Butt or “Phena Ji,” was a renowned Pakistani stage actor and comedian who passed away in Lahore at the age of 60 on September 19, 2026, after suffering a heart attack.
Hailing from Gujranwala, he entered theatre with the support of Sohail Ahmed and became known for his spontaneous humour, sharp wit and dialogue delivery.
He worked on a large scale in private commercial theatre and at Alhamra Arts Council, performing alongside renowned artists including Mastana, Baboo Baral, Amanat Chan, Nasir Chinyoti and Naseem Vicky.
The other legend, Iftikhar Thakur is a veteran Pakistani actor, comedian, director and TV host, born in Mian Channu in 1958.
He began his career in theatre and became widely known for Punjabi stage comedy, humour and memorable comic characters.
He has also worked in television and films and received the Pride of Performance in 2019.
