Police investigations are still underway to determine the real cause of the death of five members of a family whose bodies were found in a flat in the Ahsanabad area of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Police said that they are yet to determine whether these persons were murdered or committed suicide, or if there was any other reason behind their gruesome deaths.
Police said that the real cause of the deaths will be determined after receiving the post-mortem report.
Police said that the dead bodies are two to three days old. After the smell spread, the neighbours informed the police.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SITE area said that no evidence of robbery was available at the site of the crime.
He said that the flat was locked from the inside and the keys were placed at the head of Dr. Umar's bed.
The deceased, Dr. Umar, was employed in a private hospital, and the family was observant of prayers and of good character.
After Dr. Umar was diagnosed with cancer, all the family members were upset, and their economic and financial issues became so difficult that the wife of the deceased tried to sell her oven for just Rs10,000.
Police said that Dr. Umar bid farewell to his job and wanted to shift to his native village in Bahwalnagar.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the situation and directed that the matter be investigated thoroughly and in a transparent manner.
He also directed that responsibility be taken and that justice be done to the victim family.
