University of Karachi’s Chairman of the Department of Islamic Learning Prof Dr Muhammad Arif Khan Saqi, and the main accused in the assault case, Kunain Shah, reached a settlement on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to Prof Arif Saqi, Kunain Shah visited his home and apologized for the incident. The professor said he forgave Kunain Shah after he expressed remorse over his actions.
“As a teacher, I believe he should have realised his mistake,” Prof Saqi said, adding that people should respect others and not treat them “so mercilessly.”
“Alhamdulillah, he has learned this lesson well,” he said.
Prof Saqi also said that Shah had fully repaired the car damaged in the incident and that the loss had been compensated. He added that the car’s owner was also satisfied with the settlement. Shah is currently on bail in the assault case.
The Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate-X of Malir approved his bail against a surety bond of Rs20,000. Following the court’s order, Shah was released from custody.
Prof Saqi was assaulted and held captive for several hours at a hotel in Karachi following a minor road-rage incident.
The incident occurred near Safoora Goth as Prof Saqi was travelling to the University of Karachi.

According to Prof Saqi’s account, a double-cabin vehicle collided with his car. He said he asked the occupants to compensate him for the damage and provide their contact details.
However, the occupants and their security guards subsequently assaulted him and his driver, striking them on the head with the butt of a rifle.
Police arrested five people in connection with the case, according to reports.
Shah, who was named as the main accused, had initially evaded arrest. Police conducted raids at several locations in an attempt to apprehend him.
A case was registered at Sachal Police Station on Prof Saqi’s complaint, naming Kunain Ali Gohar Shah and others as accused.
