Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Monday, with the two sides discussing Pakistan-Iran relations, bilateral cooperation and the prevailing regional situation.
Naqvi told the Iranian president that Pakistan was ready to expand cooperation with Iran across all sectors and wanted to build on the growing engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
President Pezeshkian said closer interaction between Pakistan and Iran could help both countries strengthen cooperation and make better use of their economic, human and regional capacities.
According to a readout carried by Iranian state media, Pezeshkian described Pakistan and Iran as two important regional countries with significant human resources and economic potential. He said greater cooperation could enable them to meet more of their needs through domestic and regional capabilities.
Naqvi said Pakistan-Iran relations had reached a high level and Islamabad was determined to further expand cooperation with Tehran in all fields.

The Iranian president also linked increased cooperation among Muslim countries to growing US pressure and military actions in the region, saying repeated contacts among senior Iranian and Pakistani officials reflected closer interaction between Muslim states.
His remarks came amid continuing tensions between Iran and the United States and wider instability across the Middle East.
Pezeshkian said developments in recent months had demonstrated the importance of greater coordination and cooperation among Muslim countries in responding to regional challenges.
Naqvi's meeting with the Iranian president was part of a series of high-level engagements during his official visit to Tehran.
Earlier Monday, the interior minister met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni at Iran's Interior Ministry.
During those talks, the two ministers reviewed bilateral relations, the latest regional situation and progress on cooperation between the interior ministries of Pakistan and Iran.
Momeni thanked Pakistan for what he described as its continued efforts to promote peace and stability in the region and specifically appreciated the role of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Naqvi said during the meeting that Pakistan-Iran relations would continue to strengthen and that Islamabad wanted to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two interior ministers also discussed implementation of agreements already reached between Pakistan and Iran and ways to deepen coordination between their ministries.
Naqvi arrived in Tehran earlier Monday and was received at the airport by Momeni. Iranian officials said the official purpose of the visit was to discuss bilateral relations, cooperation and follow-up on understandings previously reached between the two countries.
Iranian media reported that Naqvi was not carrying a message from Washington to Tehran and that his visit was officially focused on Pakistan-Iran relations. Pakistani officials, however, have said regional developments would also form part of discussions during the trip.
The visit comes amid sustained diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Tehran.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Pezeshkian met in Bishkek on August 31, where they reaffirmed their intention to strengthen bilateral relations across multiple sectors and discussed regional peace, connectivity and diplomatic engagement.
During that meeting, Pezeshkian also expressed appreciation for Pakistan's diplomatic efforts aimed at regional peace and said Iran wanted to deepen cooperation with Pakistan across a broad range of sectors.
Pakistan has repeatedly called for restraint, dialogue and diplomacy amid regional tensions and has maintained contacts with Iran during the continuing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
Naqvi's latest meetings in Tehran underline the continuing high-level engagement between Pakistan and Iran as both sides seek to expand bilateral cooperation while consulting each other on regional developments.
