Punjab approves Rs4b for college teacher interns

The Punjab Finance Department has approved Rs4 billion for the payment of salaries to College Teacher Interns (CTIs), sources said.

In the first phase, the Finance Department will release the Rs4 billion allocation to the Higher Education Department for payment of stipends and salaries to the interns.

Sources said the Higher Education Department has already submitted a summary seeking approval for the recruitment of more than 9,000 College Teacher Interns across the province.

The recruitment summary is currently pending at the Chief Minister's Secretariat for approval.

Officials said the Finance Department has completed its financial arrangements and the Rs4 billion grant will be released to the Higher Education Department immediately after the recruitment summary receives approval.

The proposed recruitment of more than 9,000 CTIs is aimed at meeting teaching requirements in government colleges across Punjab.

The Higher Education Department will begin further recruitment and placement procedures after receiving approval from the Chief Minister's Office and the release of funds.
