Attock Refinery Limited has temporarily shut down its main crude distillation unit with a production capacity of 32,400 barrels per day, citing disruptions in oil supply and transportation constraints, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange through an official letter that the unit will remain closed until improvements are seen in current traffic restrictions affecting oil movement.
According to the report, the sudden suspension of oil tanker movement has significantly affected crude oil supply to the refinery.
The company stated that the disruption is linked to expected movement of foreign delegations in Islamabad, which has led to temporary restrictions on transportation routes.
The refinery further noted that the situation has negatively impacted the supply of crude oil as well as the distribution of petroleum products.
It added that operational activities have been affected due to the interruption in logistics.
The company has said it will resume normal operations once transport conditions improve and supply routes are restored.
