Police foils bid to smuggle ghee worth Rs5.5m in Karachi

Acting on a credible intelligence report, police thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Sufi ghee worth Rs5.5 million and also impounded two 10-wheeler trucks in Karachi, reported 24News HD TV Channel.
Police took this on the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Malir Majeeda Parveen.
SSP Majeeda Parveen said that a petitioner, namely Farhan Khan, approached the police to file a first information report (FIR) in Bin Qasim Police Station on April 2, 2026.
Investigation Police arrested two accused from Sukkur and Karachi and recovered smuggled goods worth Rs 5.5 million through the identification of the accused.
The arrested accused were later identified as cleaner Abdul Shafiq and driver Mohammad Shafiq.
SSP further revealed that the accused also admitted their involvement in the crime. SSP Majeeda Parveen said that after the recovery of the truck and goods, the police handed them over to their real owner.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the other accomplices of the accused.
