The United States is preparing to present the largest defence budget in its history, with a proposed increase of 42 percent aimed at strengthening military capabilities and investing in advanced technologies, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to details released by the Pentagon, the total size of the proposed defence budget is set to reach 4.181 trillion dollars. The plan reflects a significant expansion in military spending, with a strong focus on modern weapons systems and future defence needs.
A major portion of the budget, amounting to 750 billion dollars, has been allocated for the procurement of naval ships, fighter aircraft and the missile defence initiative known as the Golden Dome. The programme is designed to enhance the country’s defensive capabilities against potential threats.
The budget also includes a substantial investment of 74 billion dollars in drone and anti-drone systems, highlighting the growing importance of unmanned technology in modern warfare. In addition, more than 75 billion dollars has been proposed for space defence programmes, indicating a continued push to strengthen capabilities beyond Earth.
An amount of 18 billion dollars has been set aside specifically for the Golden Dome missile defence project, further underlining its strategic importance within the overall plan.
Officials said the new budget aims to modernise the armed forces and maintain a strong defence posture, as global security challenges continue to evolve.
