New provinces to lower expenditure, says Amer Mehmood

Punjab Group of Colleges Chairman Mian Amer Mehmood has said that the creation of new provinces will bring down the government’s expenditure, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Mian Amer expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled “My Province, My System” in Lahore on Saturday.

Amer Mehmood said that every country establishes new administrative units after its population multiplies, and the government’s expenditure will also certainly come down.

He said “We should know the reality lying behind the hatred.” Amer Mehmood said that Punjab is giving billions of rupees to Balochistan.

He further said that Sindh’s Thar area holds a lot of potential. Amer Mehmood said that focusing on children’s education will pave the way for curbing poverty in the country.

He said that people of Punjab are ready for small provinces as the youth of our country need good governance.

Earlier on Thursday, speaking at an awareness seminar organised by the Association of Private Sector Universities Pakistan (APSUP) at the University of Lahore, Mian Amer stated that 90 percent of citizens’ needs are met through local governments, yet they have always been ignored.

He added that from streets to cities, cleanliness and provision of facilities are the responsibility of local governments.

Amer Mehmood said that public welfare is judged at the global level as well, which is why there is a need to improve education and public welfare in Pakistan.

He added that they will also discuss the current state of education in detail in the future to bring reforms in the system.
