Two workers associated with the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Multan died of suffocation while cleaning a sewer line late at night, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to rescue sources, the two men were cleaning the sewer line when they became trapped in the toxic gases and died of suffocation.
Police said the workers were carrying out the cleaning work without wearing protective equipment.
Meanwhile, WASA officials said one of the deceased was a permanent employee of the agency, while the other was working on a contract basis.
