The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended the bail of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari until January 12 in a case relating to suspicious transactions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani heard the case.
As the hearing begins, NAB prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar told the court that an amended application for an extension in bail, as ordered by the court, has not yet been filed.
Zardari’s counsel Javaid Vains informed the court that the application has been though chief defence counsel, Farooq H Naek, is busy in Karachi.
Sardar Muzaffar also raised objection to the exemption from appearance to the accused, arguing Asif Zardari is not in the hospital.
When Justice Amir Farooqi asked how many times the NAB had called Asif Zardari in the last six months, the NAB prosecutor said he had been summoned but he did not appear before the Bureau.
Javaid Vains said Asif Zardari had spent six months in detention. On which the NAB prosecutor said during time the inquiry was not initiated.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani said Zardari should appear before NAB if he is summoned. Javid Vains said Asif Zardari would appear before the NAB after winter vacations.
Justice Amir Farooqi said “Let’s see what happens on the next hearing.”
