Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi decided to field his son as an independent candidate for the NA-51 election.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Nadir Khaqan Abbasi will submit his nomination papers tomorrow.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has not so far announced its NA-51 candidate.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was elected prime minister after the Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif over allegations he lied on a wealth declaration in 2017.
