The administration of Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi has refused to shift Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, from her Bani Gala residence in Islamabad to the jail, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In his report submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) during the hearing of Bushra’s petition, seeking the court order for shifting her to the jail, the superintendent Adial Jail said that the petitioner could not be shifted because of security concerns.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petition, while Usman Gill, the former first lady’s counsel, appeared in the court.

Furthermore, the superintendent wrote, already space in the jail was limited as 250 females were crammed into it.

On the other hand, Islamabad chief commissioner did not submit his report to the court.

The state prosecutor requested the court to grant time to the commissioner to submit his reply.

Accepting the prosecutor’s request, the court adjourned the case’s hearing for two weeks.

Also on Thursday, Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz of the IHC, while removing objections to Imran’s sister’s application, seeking the court order for the medical examination of Bushra, ordered that it should be fixed for the hearing.

In the application, Uzma had said that after having been convicted in the Toshakhana reference, Bushra was presently imprisoned at her Bani Gala residence. “It is requested that her family doctor Dr. Asim Yousaf be allowed to see her. The court is also requested to order senior doctors of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to check her in the presence of Dr. Yousaf,” read the application.
