The Punjab University and Rafah International University jointly organised a two-day conference on psychology, media and behavioural sciences.
National and international researchers participated in the moot wherein 120 research papers were presented. Roundtable discussions, panel discussions and special sessions were part of the event.
Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Pro Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, Dr Sofia and Dr Vidal from Italy and Prof Dr Claudio from Spain were special guests.
The organizers included Prof Dr Nosheena Saleem, Chairperson of DCMR, Prof Dr Hanan Ahmed Mian, Chairperson of the Department of Journalism, Punjab University and Dr Urooj Arshad Chairperson of Institute of Clinical Psychology, Riffah International University.
Secretaries were Dr Tanveer Hussain, Dr Naseem Ishaq and Alina Arshad. Shields and certificates were also presented to the researchers.
The moot drew global experts to address emerging challenges at the intersection of these fields.
The participants underscored the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in the digital age.
Day 1
The first day dawned at RIU’s Gulberg III Campus wherein Dr Urooj Arshad delivered welcoming remarks, emphasising the need for dialogue between psychology and media studies.
Muhammad Umar Farooq, RIU Regional Director, outlined the conference’s goal to foster academic exchange and tackle modern societal challenges.
Keynote highlights
Prof Dr Claudio Longobardi presented his views on ‘Digital Literacy and the Impact of Social Media’.
Dr Joaquin Vidal discussed ‘Stoic Philosophy Strategies for Managing Media-Generated Anger’.
Ikram Barkat from PEMRA shared regulatory insights on media’s societal role.
Chief guest Prof Dr Nizamuddin stressed advancing educational and psychological research, while parallel sessions featured presentations by Prof Rafia Rafique, Dr Shamim Fatima and Dr Sofia.
Day 2
The second day, shifted to Punjab University, consisted of scientific sessions with over 60 research papers on themes like behavioral psychology, media ethics, and digital trends.
Communication studies maestro Prof Shafiq Jalandhari, and senior journalists Habib Akram and Salman Abid deliberated at a roundtable.
By bridging psychology, media, and behavioral sciences, the event highlighted collaborative research’s role in addressing modern challenges. This conference marks a pivotal step toward interdisciplinary solutions for a rapidly evolving world.
Special Acknowledgment
A special acknowledgement was extended to the student volunteers and participants from both universities, whose enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication in managing logistics, moderating sessions, and engaging with global experts were instrumental in fostering a vibrant intellectual environment.
