An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Saturday extended the physical remand of Armughan and Shiraz, suspects in the case of kidnapping and murder of Mustafa Amir, by another five days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Earlier, the court reserved the verdict on the request of the investigation officer, seeking an extension in the physical remand of the suspects by 14 days.
The IO said that an investigation into the case had not been finished yet and the police needed to grill them further. “Apart from that, we have to record statements of two servants of Armughan. We also have to conduct forensics of the weapons and a laptop recovered from Armughan’s home.”
Suddenly, Armughan fell in the courtroom.
The prosecutor general told the court that the suspect had done the same thing in the Sindh High Court. “But later when his medical test was conducted, the test report was negative.”
Armughan, on the occasion, alleged that he had been given nothing to eat and drink in prison.
Tahir Rehman Tanoli, on the occasion, told the court he was the counsel for the suspect, adding the suspect’s mother had appointed him.
When the judge asked Armughan, “Is Tanoli your lawyer?,” the latter replied, “No. He is not my lawyer. Previously, too, I was made to sign a paper through deceit.”
Khurram Abbas, Shiraz’s lawyer, on the occasion, said his client had nothing to do with Mustafa’s murder. “YouTubers are interviewing Shiraz. But he has not been allowed to meet me,” he complained.
He further said that the police raided the suspect’s home without any lady constable. “The Force even took away with it the laptop that belonged to Shiraz’s sister.”
The lawyer opposed granting to the police his client’s physical remand.
Court returns Shiraz’s sister application
The same court also returned Shiraz’s sister application, in which she had requested for a meeting with his brother.
A few days ago, the court had granted to the police a four-day physical remand of Armughan and Shiraz.
