One dacoit was gunned down, and two others escaped from the scene during a police encounter in Sahiwal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The police encounter took place near Chak No. 56-GD on Faisalabad Road in Sahiwal.
The dead dacoit was identified as Saddam Hussain, a resident of Chak No. 568-GB, Faisalabad.
The Crime Control Department (CCD) team said that the dead dacoits and their accomplices killed a farmer in the Babluk area.
Later, the CCD team shifted the dead body of the dacoit to the local hospital and started a search operation to arrest the accomplices of the dacoits.
Sources further revealed that the CCD team is optimistic that the escaped dacoits will also be apprehended soon.
