At least five terrorists were killed in an operation conducted by security forces near the Surkhab refugee camp in Pishin, officials said on Sunday.
According to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the exchange of fire took place when security personnel acted on intelligence regarding a planned sabotage activity in the area. During the clash, five militants were killed.
The CTD said the suspects were allegedly planning to target the Police Line and the Cadet College in Pishin. Their plan was foiled due to the timely action of the security forces.
Officials further stated that weapons and explosives were recovered from the vehicle used by the militants. The recovered material has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Security in the area has been tightened, and a search operation is underway to trace any possible accomplices, authorities added.
