One young man lost his life and four others became critically injured due to a cylinder blast in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The incident took place in Bismillah Residency in the North Nazimabad area of Karachi. The blast occurred in a flat located on the tenth floor of the building. Two flats and the lift of the building were damaged due to the blast.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Region Dr. Imran reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation, and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was also called.
The rescue team also collected the evidence from the site. Later, the dead body of the young man and four injured persons were shifted to the hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Central Talha Salli said that fire tenders brought the fire inside the building under control. He said that during the initial investigation, it was revealed that the blast occurred after the cylinder exploded.
Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said that report of fire was received at the time of Fajr prayers.
The fire and rescue operation was concluded within one hour and now the cooling process is underway.
Sindh Building Control Authority also reviewed the newly-constructd building.
