A cylinder blast at a gas shop in Islamabad’s Koral police station area on Thursday afternoon injured three people and triggered an emergency response in the Sharifabad locality. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, controlled the resulting fire and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, while authorities said the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Emergency responders carried out firefighting and evacuation operations upon arrival, preventing the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings in the densely populated area. Cooling operations were also conducted to ensure the situation remained fully under control.
Rescue officials confirmed that the injured sustained burn wounds and were provided initial medical assistance before being transferred for further treatment. No fatalities were reported in the incident.
Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the cylinder blast. The incident has renewed concerns over safety standards related to the storage and handling of gas cylinders in commercial premises, particularly those located in residential neighborhoods.
