Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has announced that the time for dialogue has ended, and now the founder of the party, Imran Khan, will personally lead the protest movement from inside the jail.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, speaking to the media outside the Judicial Complex in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar declared, “PTI doesn’t need to push people out—they come out on their own.”
Gohar emphasised that two years have passed since the political crisis began, and it is time for the oppression to end.
“Everyone should now be allowed to meet the PTI founder,” he said, highlighting the legal rulings that permit such meetings, which he claimed are being violated.
The PTI chairman added that the last meetings with Imran Khan were by Barrister Saif, followed by Imran’s sisters.
Discussing the recent Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Barrister Gohar expressed satisfaction with the process, stating that all candidate names were finalised in consultation with Imran Khan.
“There isn't a single name on the list that wasn’t approved by him,” he asserted.
He further revealed that the planning had been finalised as early as March 2024, but due to a delay in allocating reserved seats, the process was paused.
“When the reserved seats were finally decided, we initially feared a shortfall but eventually secured six seats, which is a very good result,” he remarked.
Responding to internal party concerns, Gohar defended Mirza Afridi, saying he has never spoken against the party and has always stood by PTI’s narrative and interests. “Even Khan Sahib himself approved his name,” he noted.
When asked about awarding party tickets to individuals who held press conferences after May 9, Gohar firmly stated, “The rumours about granting tickets to such individuals are not true.”
