Intense protests over prolonged power outages turned violent in Quetta on Tuesday, leaving four people injured in firing during a clash between demonstrators and police at Chandni Chowk in Satellite Town, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.
The unrest began when locals took to the streets to voice their frustration over severe and extended power load shedding in the city, which has pushed residents to the brink amid scorching summer temperatures. Tensions quickly escalated as protesters and police forces confronted each other.
Amid the chaos, a vehicle was set ablaze by enraged demonstrators, further intensifying the situation. Eyewitnesses reported the use of force and the sound of gunfire during the confrontation, resulting in injuries to at least four individuals.
Authorities responded by deploying a heavy contingent of police to the area, which remains tense as the situation is being closely monitored. Law enforcement officials have not yet confirmed who fired the shots or whether any arrests have been made.
