In family court, a woman, resident of Kahna Lahore has challenged her daughter's verbal marriage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The plaintiff woman Bilqis Bibi took a stand in the court that verbal marriage has no significance, the boy has cheated on her daughter, no marriage was performed so it is requested to take action against the boy.

However, Advocate Shahbaz Bhatti presented four witnesses on behalf of the boy in the court.

The defence lawyer submitted that there was no marriage registrar at the place where the marriage took place but the marriage took place in the presence of witnesses who are present in the court.

The lawyer argued that verbal marriage is also a Sharia marriage if witnesses are present. Earlier, verbal marriages were performed while written marriage is an agreement in which the dower, expenses and other conditions are written so that both parties can keep it as evidence.

In the court, the witnesses admitted that the marriage took place.

The family court summoned the lawyers for a discussion on July 26 when both the positions came up.

The court also directed the girl Salma and the boy Parvez to appear in the court during the arguments.
