Pakistan has strongly condemned threats issued by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, warning that any danger to Pakistan-flagged vessels would be regarded as a matter of national security.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, threats directed at Saudi Arabia and international commercial shipping are unacceptable.
The spokesperson said Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary and lawful measures to safeguard its maritime interests and ensure the security of its vessels.
The Foreign Office reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
It also stressed the importance of protecting freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of global trade.
Pakistan urged all parties to respect international law, exercise restraint and take immediate steps to reduce regional tensions in order to preserve peace and stability in the strategically important maritime corridor.
