Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday said that Pakistan hoped that the world would soon get to hear good news and peace would be restored in the Gulf, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He was speaking to Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who called on him at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad.
Naqvi said that Pakistan was ready to enhance its cooperation with Iran in all sectors.
“Momini and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have done an extraordinary work for peace in the region,” he added.
Bilateral relations and situation in the region also came under discussion at the meeting.
Both interior ministers stressed the need for taking a joint stance on stopping the flow of drugs and terrorism from Afghanistan.
The two countries agreed to increase collaboration against terrorism and narcotics smuggling besides illegal immigration and human smuggling.
Naqvi and Momini also agreed to further strengthen trade ties between Pakistan and Iran.
Earlier, Momini was given a warm reception on arrival at the ministry.
A contingent of the Frontier Constabulary presented a guard of honour to the distinguished guest.
