The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has claimed that the WhatsApp account of its senior leader, Qamar Zaman Kaira, has been hacked, prompting the party to issue a public warning against responding to suspicious communications, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to PPP sources, the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities for investigation.
The party has advised workers, supporters and the general public to exercise caution and not to trust any suspicious messages, phone calls or requests for financial transactions originating from Kaira's WhatsApp number until further notice.
PPP sources urged anyone receiving unusual communications from the account to verify their authenticity through official channels before taking any action.
The party has not provided further details regarding the alleged breach, while efforts to secure the account are understood to be under way.
