Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered to bring the people responsible for the Greek boat tragedy to justice, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The premier was chairing a high-level meeting Wednesday in which he was briefed on the capsizing of a migrant ship boarding hundreds of Pakistanis off the southern coast of Greece.
Expressing his anger, the prime minister wondered why the activities of human traffickers were not stopped in time and why the administration of the districts to which the affected people belonged did not take timely notice of the activities of the involved smugglers and agents.
The prime minister instructed the probe committee to complete the investigation and submit a report on the incident at the earliest.
PM Shehbaz directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to put forward suggestions regarding the necessary legislation in order to penalize human smugglers.
Federal ministers Rana Sanaullah, Maryam Aurangzeb, PM Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, FIA DG, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary and other concerned senior officials participated in the meeting.
The prime minister was briefed that the Greek coastguards identified the boat on June 12, which was carrying approximately 700 people. The boat was owned by an Egyptian man and most of the people boarding the ship belonged to Syria, Libya and Pakistan.
As many as 102 people from the boat have been rescued alive, out of which 15 belong to Pakistan.
Authorities so far have arrested a total of 15 human traffickers and their agents including the main suspect in the incident.
The meeting was further told that an organized network operating in different countries is involved in the human trafficking.
Prime Minister Shehbaz directed the FIA to complete the detailed investigation of the matter at the earliest and take effective measures to prevent it.
He also directed the Gujranwala commissioner to identify such agents in the district and bring them to the book soon.

Meanwhile, diplomatic sources informed that important information was given to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to identify the Pakistanis died in the Greek boat tragedy.
The ministry was provided information regarding DNA samples of the families of 98 boat tragedy victims.
According to the information, 56 Pakistanis belonged to Gujrat, and 42 hailed from Gujranwala.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will share this information with the Greek authorities for the identification of dead/missing Pakistanis, sources concluded.
