WhatsApp has introduced a new feature to automatically mute calls from unknown numbers, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Wednesday.
The report said Mark Zuckerberg announced the call mute feature along with a new privacy checking option yesterday.
Mark Zuckerberg said for even more privacy and control, you can now automatically mute incoming calls from unknown contacts on WhatsApp.
He said WhatsApp users can enable this option by going to Settings > Privacy > Calls and selection of "Turn off unknown callers”.
According to WhatsApp, calls from unknown numbers are automatically muted, but appear in the app's notifications and call history.
That's in case you later want to check if the number came from someone you know but didn't save the number in your contacts.
When you receive a call from an unknown number, the phone simply displays the number with the message "Silenced unknown number".
