President Donald Trump said Saturday the US military has carried out a "very successful attack" on three Iranian nuclear sites, including the underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordo.
"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
"A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow."
Trump added that "all planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors."
Trump's announcement came just two days after he said he would decide "within two weeks" whether to join key ally Israel in attacking Iran.
Earlier on Saturday there were reports that US B-2 bombers -- which carry so-called "bunker buster" bombs -- were headed out of the United States.
Trump did not say what kind of US planes or munitions were involved.
Tehran had threatened reprisals on US forces in the Middle East if Trump attacked but the US president called for "peace."
"There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!" he said.
Trump threatens more strikes
President Donald Trump said Saturday that US air strikes had "completely and totally obliterated" Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities and threatened more attacks if Tehran does not make peace.
"There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember there are many targets left," Trump said in a late-night address to the nation.
"If peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill."

Iran atomic agency says US attacks on nuclear sites 'barbaric'
Iran's atomic energy organisation condemned Sunday the US attacks on key nuclear sites including the mountain-buried Fordo as "barbaric" and in violation of international law.
"At dawn today, the country's nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan were attacked by the enemies of Islamic Iran in a barbaric act that violates international law," the organisation said in a statement published on state media.
On the other hand Iranian media said on Sunday that part of the Fordo uranium enrichment facility as well as the Isfahan and Natanz nuclear sites were attacked, after Donald Trump said the US had bombed them.
"A few hours ago, after Qom's air defenses were activated and hostile targets were identified, part of the Fordo nuclear site was attacked by enemy airstrikes," Tasnim news agency reported, quoting Morteza Heydari, spokesperson for the Qom Provincial crisis management department.
Separately, Fars news agency said: "The air defenses of Isfahan and Kashan began to work to counter hostile targets, and several explosions were heard simultaneously."
Trump and Netanyahu spoke after US strikes on Iran
President Donald Trump spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the US military launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, a senior White House official said Saturday.
The United States also "gave Israel a heads-up before the strikes," the official told AFP on condition of anonymity, as Washington joined Israel's air campaign against Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Donald Trump on Sunday for the "bold" US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, calling the attack a historic moment that could lead the Middle East to peace.
"Congratulations President Trump. Your bold decision to target Iran's nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history," Netanyahu said in a video address after Trump announced the US bombing of three Iranian facilities.
The attack demonstrated America was "truly unsurpassed," Netanyahu said, thanking Trump for creating a "pivot of history" that will "help lead the Middle East and beyond to a future of prosperity and peace".
"President Trump and I often say, peace through strength. First comes strength, then comes peace," Netanyahu said.
He added in a separate statement that the US attacks had been carried out in coordination with Israel and said the promise of destroying Iran's nuclear programme was fulfilled.
Earlier, Trump announced on his social media platform that US warplanes had struck Iran's Fordo nuclear enrichment plant, as well as the Natanz and Isfahan facilities.
The United States joins key ally Israel's bombing campaign after Trump spent days mulling possible involvement.
Israel and Iran have traded wave after wave of devastating strikes since Israel launched attacks on June 13, saying Tehran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon. Iran denies having any such ambition.
