Senior officials from the US Embassy in Islamabad called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in the federal capital, where they discussed regional peace, security and Pakistan’s role in promoting stability.
According to sources, US Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission for Political Affairs Terry Steers Gonzalez and former Deputy Chief of Mission Zachary Harkenrider attended the meeting.
The visit also served as a farewell meeting for Zachary Harkenrider, who introduced the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Mission for Political Affairs, Terry Steers Gonzalez, to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the prevailing peace and security situation in the region and discussed Pakistan’s positive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
JUI-F leaders Senator Kamran Murtaza and Maulana Asjad Mahmood also participated in the meeting.
