The Delhi High Court is set to issue an interim order safeguarding Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha’s personality rights after allegations of unauthorized use of her likeness by AI chatbots surfaced.

Sonakshi Sinha is seeking legal protection against alleged misuse of her identity and persona in the rapidly evolving digital space. On Friday, the Delhi High Court, presided over by Justice Jyoti Singh, indicated that an interim direction would likely be issued in her favor.

During the hearing, Sinha’s legal team highlighted instances of AI chatbots reportedly using her likeness without permission. The court asked for detailed evidence, including links to the alleged violations, and permitted the submission of additional documents in a sealed cover within two days.

The case is scheduled for further hearing on July 6, 2026.

This move follows similar protections granted by the Delhi High Court to high-profile figures such as Patanjali founder Ramdev, singer Jubin Nautiyal, actor Salman Khan, Kajol, R. Madhavan, N. T. Rama Rao Jr., and journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, among others.

These rulings often involve a John Doe order, aimed at curbing misuse of an individual’s identity in both physical and digital formats.

Sonakshi Sinha, who debuted in Dabangg alongside Salman Khan and later starred in films like Rowdy Rathore, Mission Mangal, and the web series Heeramandi, has maintained a strong presence in both mainstream and performance-driven projects.

The protection of her likeness is increasingly significant in the AI era, where digital impersonation can impact reputation and commercial interests.
