The current heatwave gripping large swathes of the country will persist today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Sibbi was recorded at 50 degrees Celsius followed by Dera Ghazi Khan and Dadu where the daytime temperature was recorded at 49 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, it was 48 degrees Celsius in Jacobabad, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur.
Extreme heat to persist in Lahore
Just like other parts of the country, the weather will remain extremely hot in Lahore, where the temperature will reach 41 degrees Celsius later in the day.
To make matters worse, no rain is expected in the Punjab capital and its suburbs during the next 24 hours.
Winds will blow at a speed of 14 kilometers per hour, while the moisture level in the air will stand at 60 per cent.
Health experts have advised people to consume drinks to stay cool in high temperatures and immediately rush to a doctor in case they feel a headache or vomit.
Islamabad also remains in grip of heatwave
Islamabad, too, remains in the grip of a heatwave as daytime temperature in the federal capital will touch the 41 degrees Celsius mark today.
Karachi remains in grip of hot, humid weather
The weather in Karachi will remain hot and humid today.
The temperature reached 32 degrees Celsius in the morning, while winds were blowing from the west at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour.
The level of humidity in the air was recorded at between 65 and 75 per cent.
People were advised to consume drinks and avoid exposure to heat by staying indoors; especially from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Bahawalpur experiences excessively high temperatures
The weather will remain extremely hot in Bahawalpur and adjoining areas as the temperature in the city shot up to 39 degrees Celsius in the morning, while it was expected to go up to 45 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
Seven heatstroke patients landed in different hospitals of the city during the last 24 hours.
The maximum temperature in a nearby Cholistan desert was expected to reach 46 degrees Celsius.
Hot to extremely hot weather forecast for Balochistan
Meanwhile, the weather department has forecast hot weather for most areas in Balochistan, while extremely hot for the southern parts of the province.
There is also a prediction of strong winds blowing in several areas of the province.
The department has said that thundershowers are expected in Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan and the outskirts today in the afternoon.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Quetta was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius.
It was 35 degrees Celsius in Kalat, 30 degrees Celsius in Ziarat, 38 degrees Celsius in Zhob, 50 degrees Celsius in Sibbi, 44 degrees Celsius in Turbat, 46 degrees Celsius in Nokundi, 41 degrees Celsius in Chaman, 35 degrees Celsius in Gwadar and 34 degrees Celsius in Jeewani.
Rain forecast for Kashmir
The Met Office has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rain at a few places in Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas.
