Popular Pakistani actor Ahsan Khan recently shared a thoughtful perspective on comparison, self-growth, and societal change during an appearance on Fuchsia Magazine hosted by Rabia Mughni. In the candid conversation, the actor reflected on how constant comparison negatively affects individuals and emphasized the importance of self-improvement and personal development.

Ahsan stated that: “Comparison tou hamary mazhab mein bhi boht tarha sy mana hai, why I talking about religion because I feel ky hamary pass ek sab sy upr ki cheez hai jo hum sab logon ko seekhny ky liye btaya gaya hai. Aap dekhain comparison to it’s brings a veil, ek parda kar deta hai apki achaiyon ko hata deta haiaur aap sirf us comparison mei reh jaty hain.” (“Comparison is discouraged in many ways in our religion as well. I am talking about religion because I feel that we have the greatest guidance given to all of us to learn from. You see, comparison creates a veil; it covers your strengths and goodness, and you become trapped only within that comparison).

Further he added: “so jaisy aap sochty hain habil or kabil ka waqia parhty tou usny to apny bhai sy khud ko compare hi kia tha, Hazrat Yousuf ka waqia parhty to unky bhaiyon ny bhi compare hi kiya tha, aap iblees ka waqia parhty to us ny Hazrat Adam sy khud ko compare hi kiya tha. Tou comparisons jo hain logon kay aap kyun apny ap ko compare krain. Aap apny aap ko pehchany khud ki skill develop krain, khud ky oper kaam krain. You could do so much in life for yourself. Apny liye apny ird gird k logon k liye kuch krain. Aap isi mein sari Zindagi guzar dain gy k wo kia kar raha hai, usny kia kiya, aapka kia us sy taluq hai apka kia kaam hai us sy.” (So, when you read about the story of Habil and Qabil, one compared himself to his own brother. When you read the story of Prophet Yusuf, his brothers also compared themselves to him. And when you read about Iblees, he compared himself to Prophet Adam. So why do people keep comparing themselves to others? Instead, recognize your own self, develop your own skills, and work on yourself. You could do so much in life for yourself. Do something meaningful for yourself and for the people around you. Otherwise, you will spend your entire life worrying about what others are doing, what they have achieved, and what connection any of that has to your own journey).

Continuing the discussion, he elaborated: “ye mein sirf showbiz ki baat nahi kar raha, mein families ki baat bhi kar raha hoon, ye mein general individual ki baat kar raha hoon. Aap society mein change kaisy ly k aa sakty hain. Improve yourself that’s the biggest change. Ye nahi ky aap bahir jaaky pehly bolain mein change laou ga usko khana khila doon, wo safai kr doon, karain sab kuch, apni zaat apna mindset apni Zindagi change nahi karain gy tou aapky ird gird koi nahi hoga.” (“I am not just talking about showbiz; I am also talking about families and individuals in general. How can you bring change to society? Improve yourself that is the biggest change. It’s not about going outside first and saying, ‘I will bring change, I will feed someone, I will clean things.’ Do all of that, but if you do not change your own self, your mindset, and your life, then nothing around you will truly change either).
