A government doctor has been stripped of his emergency-room duties after a video showing him dancing with his fiancée inside a hospital room ignited widespread criticism online.

The clip, which circulated rapidly on social media, shows Uttar Pradesh Dr. Waqar Siddiqui — a recently recruited contract doctor assigned to the emergency ward — dancing in a closed room on the hospital’s upper floor alongside a young woman identified locally as his fiancée.

As public anger grew, hospital authorities moved swiftly. Dr. Siddiqui’s government-allotted residence was vacated, and a detailed report on the incident was forwarded to senior officials in the state health department for further action.

Medical Officer Virendra Singh confirmed the disciplinary steps, saying, “This kind of conduct is unacceptable in any government facility. Immediate measures have been taken, and the case has been sent for departmental scrutiny.”

The incident has triggered conversations among staff and residents about professionalism within public hospitals — especially at a time when the facility is grappling with a shortage of medical personnel. Many locals expressed concern that such episodes undermine public trust in an already overstretched healthcare system.
