Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Tuesday visited Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak and met religious scholars to discuss peace, religious harmony and national unity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Affairs Ikhtiar Wali Khan and MPA Jalal Khan accompanied the minister. Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-i-Aman Committee Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, was also present.
Members of the Qaumi Paigham-i-Aman Committee, deputy administrator of Darul Uloom Haqqania Maulana Rashidul Haq Haqqani, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (S) chief Maulana Abdul Haq Sani, Maulana Syed Mohammad Yousuf Shah and other religious scholars received the minister on his arrival.
The meeting focused on efforts to promote peace and stability, religious harmony and national unity in the fight against terrorism.
Atta Tarar said promotion of peace, tolerance and national unity was a need of the hour.
He said the Qaumi Paigham-i-Aman Committee was playing its role in promoting peace, religious harmony and a national narrative against terrorism.
The minister said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was using the committee’s platform to convey the message of peace and stability to the public.
Atta Tarar and members of the committee later visited various sections of the seminary and were briefed on its educational and religious services.
The minister also visited the historic Jamia Masjid Abdul Haq located within the seminary.
Atta Tarar and committee members offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Mohammad Idrees Tarangzai, Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and Maulana Samiul Haq Shaheed.
The religious scholars representing different schools of thought reiterated their commitment to promoting peace and national unity and called for joint efforts to counter terrorism.
