A University of Karachi professor has settled with the man accused of assaulting him and his nephew after the suspect apologised for the incident, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Prof Dr Arif Khan Saqi, chairman of the university’s Islamic Learning Department, told The Express Tribune that Konain Ali Shah visited his residence on Sunday night along with his father-in-law, relatives and family elders and apologised to him.
Prof Saqi said he accepted the apology and forgave Konain, adding that both sides had reached an understanding.
He said Konain’s father had also been visiting him from time to time.
The professor added that compensation had been paid for the damage caused to his nephew’s vehicle during the incident.
The incident occurred on September 8 when Prof Saqi and his nephew were allegedly assaulted after Konain’s SUV collided with their car near Safoora Chowrangi in the Sachal police station area.
According to police, two cases were registered against Konain over the alleged assault and threats of serious consequences. He is currently out on bail in both cases.
The settlement followed an approach by the suspect’s family, who sought forgiveness from Prof Saqi, leading to reconciliation between the two sides.
