Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiyani on Tuesday presided over a special meeting to review the Asaan Tax Scheme for shopkeepers and directed that the interaction process regarding the scheme be expedited, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the meeting in Islamabad, all the tax commissioners were directed to contact the local bar associations, after which the shopkeepers' lawyers will be allowed to fill the tax forms on behalf of them.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed the progress of the Asaan Tax Scheme. During the briefing, the participants of the meeting were informed that a complete list regarding visits by FBR officials and traders' representatives was also received by trade leaders.
The Minister directed that full information about the Asaan Tax Scheme should be provided to leaders of trade associations.
He said that the government met the demands of shopkeepers, and shopkeepers themselves finalized this scheme.
Member Strategic Information Dr Hamid Atiq, Member Inland Revenue Operations Zubair Bilal, and high officials of the Federal Board of Revenue, and all chief commissioners and commissioners attended the meeting through video link.
Bilal Azhar Kiyani said that FBR has the power to take action or impose a penalty on any shopkeeper in case of violations.
Bilal Azhar Kiyani placed the Green Plate on a shop on September 15, 2026, which was registered under the Asaan Tax Scheme for shopkeepers.
FBR officials were not allowed to enter the premises of those shops that were registered under the Asaan Tax Scheme.
