The Mir Raza Judicial Commission has summoned the Sindh health secretary and director general of health for Thursday as it continues proceedings in the case, while Investigating Officer Siraj Lashari and a CPLC representative, Farooq, have been called to appear on Monday.
The commission, headed by Justice Umar Sial, recorded statements from ASP Nida Junaid, Abid Farooq, Asif Farooq, Faiz Rehman and Sarim bin Tahir during Tuesday's proceedings before adjourning the hearing until Thursday.
During the proceedings, the commission strongly questioned ASP Nida Junaid over her involvement in the case despite not being part of the investigation team.
Justice Umar Sial remarked that she had continued to involve herself in the investigation despite having no formal role in the investigating team.
"You remained involved in the case unnecessarily at the behest of an ASP from Lahore. You have no idea that you have jeopardized your career," the commission remarked.
Nida Junaid told the commission that one of her colleagues was an ASP in Lahore and that Ali Shaz, her brother, possessed information concerning Mir Raza that he intended to share with the commission.
She said Ali Shaz was abroad at the time but met her after returning to Pakistan and provided her with a voice note, which she subsequently forwarded to SP Samiullah Soomro.
Nida Junaid said she did not know how the voice note later became viral.
The commission observed that the narrative that steered the case in a different direction originated from the same voice note.
Responding to questions, Nida Junaid said she had acted on the instructions of senior officers and had no personal interest in the case.
She told the commission that SP Samiullah Soomro had given her three phone numbers, including one belonging to a woman identified as Ambreen. She said she attempted to contact Ambreen, but the call was not answered.
Nida Junaid also said she had visited the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency on the instructions of a senior officer.
Separately, Sarim bin Tahir recorded his statement before the commission through Zoom and disclosed details of WhatsApp messages he said he had received from Mir Raza.
Sarim said Mir Raza had approached him in December 2025 seeking an investment, but he had declined the proposal.
According to Sarim, at around 8 p.m. on July 27, he received a WhatsApp message from Mir Raza stating, "Make the investment."
Sarim said he responded by asking Mir to come to his office the following day, but Mir insisted that the matter needed to be discussed immediately.
He told the commission that he later received another message concerning an investment of Rs30 million, in which Mir allegedly said, "My life depends on this."
Sarim, however, said the wording of the message did not resemble Mir Raza's usual manner of speaking and appeared to him to have been written by someone else or sent in a state of panic.
He said he checked the messages after 2 a.m., but WhatsApp was unavailable at the time and the messages were subsequently deleted.
Following the recording of the statements, Justice Umar Sial recommended that the tenure of the judicial commission be extended until Oct. 15.
The commission adjourned further proceedings until Thursday, when the Sindh health secretary and DG health have been directed to appear. Investigating Officer Siraj Lashari and the CPLC representative have been summoned for Monday.
