A 41-year-old woman has tested positive for mpox at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to PIMS administration sources, the woman was brought to the hospital last week after developing skin lesions on her face.
She is currently receiving treatment in the hospital’s infectious control ward.
Her samples were sent to the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, after doctors suspected mpox.
The NIH later confirmed that she had tested positive for the virus.
The patient is a resident of Shakrial, a suburban area of Islamabad.
PIMS sources said her condition is improving and she is responding to treatment.
