Stringent security arrangements have been finalized in Islamabad keeping in view the planned long march by political parties, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The security has been put on high alert and personnel from other provinces have started arriving in Islamabad.
Over 22,000 security personnel will be deployed in Islamabad. Eight DIGs and 10 SSPs will be deployed to oversee the security in Islamabad. As many as 40 SPs, 58 DSPs, and 246 inspectors will be deployed across various sectors.
Security in the Red Zone has been further tightened in view of the potential march and sit-in.
More than 1,200 containers have been positioned at various highways and key locations in Islamabad.
These containers will be used to block routes upon receipt of orders.
Security personnel will be deployed along major routes stretching from the Motorway, Tarnol, and Sangjani to the Red Zone.
Security arrangements will also be implemented on Srinagar Highway and the Expressway.
Routes from Kashmir will be blocked by placing containers at Bara Kahu.
Given the situation, the Red Zone access route from Margalla Road may also be closed.
Police, FC, and Rangers personnel have been summoned from other areas.
Security personnel will be accommodated in Islamabad's educational institutions.
Surveillance will be conducted using the city's network of over 15,000 cameras.
Restaurants, inns, and hotels are also being monitored.
Police will conduct aerial surveillance using drones.
Security checks at Islamabad's entry points have been further intensified.
