Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Forestry Ch Akmal Sargala has claimed that the newly elected AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq will quit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
In a video message viral on social media, he said that PTI chief Imran Khan has called a meeting of all PTI AJK Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on April 25 at Zaman Park to give the impression that PTI has formed the government in AJK.
But, AJK PM and 12 members of the forward block instead of attending the meeting, will announce their defection in a press conference to be held on Tuesday.
Anwarul Haq already announced that he contested as an independent candidate because the PTI was in no position to win the election. Mr Haq, who was the Legislative Assembly’s speaker since August 2021, was elected unopposed as leader of the house in the pre-dawn election after forming a 12-member ‘forward bloc’ in the PTI and forging an alliance with the 19-member combined opposition, comprising PPP and PML-N lawmakers.
Chaudhary Sargala also leveled corruption charges of over Rs 2 billion during the former PTI government in Azad Kashmir. He lamented that the PTI chief did not take any action against Sardar Tanveer Ilyas for his corruption. He said the negative propaganda of PTI has ruined the party in AJK.
In Azad Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Insaaf is rapidly breaking down, he added.
Ch Akmal said that the PTI party in AJK has been divided into four factions, one is represented by Barrister Sultan Mahmood, second by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, third by Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and fourth is represented by like-minded.
He said the alienation of Azad Kashmir's Prime Minister and 12 fellow MLAs from PTI will be a big blow to the PTI chief.
Ch Muhammad Akmal predicted that PTI’s like-minded group will be further strengthened and soon it would play its role independently in the assembly.
